Teachers, as you settle into a well-deserved summer break, we want to celebrate you with uplifting stories and opportunities for continued connection—including our new DonorsChoose matching campaign and the second year of our Summer Workshops!
At the beginning of May, we recognized teacher empowerment. Hundreds of educators shared moments that empowered them this year. Ms. Ronco from New Jersey shared, “Watching my students take risks, think outside the box, ask questions, be curious and defend their thinking are the most empowering moments for me.” Ms. Darrow from North Carolina celebrates her most empowering moment when “a struggling reader is able to read independently and calls themselves a reader.” Here are a few more highlights:
Continued Empowerment with DonorsChoose
To close out the school year, Newsela is matching donations on DonorsChoose up to $25K! Newsela is committed to empowering teachers to make the best choices for their class and providing them with the resources to create meaningful learning for every student. We’re proud to fund $25K in literacy projects to help teachers bring needed materials into their classrooms.
This matching offer has already funded over 60 projects for 59 first-time funded teachers. Some of the projects include supporting book clubs, hands-on reading materials, a classroom library and countless school supplies to support a fresh back-to-school season. You can learn more about all the funded projects and share to have donations matched here.
Continued Connections in the Newsela Community
And when you’re ready, the Newsela Community will help you plan for success in the 2022-2023 school year—including hundreds of lessons from educators, opportunities to become a Newsela Fellow, and the return of our Summer Workshops from July 11-20. Learn more about this year’s Summer Workshops and register here. We are excited to have educator and author, Matt Miller, (aka Ditch That Textbook) as this year’s exciting keynote speaker.
Whenever your summer officially starts, we hope you will be able to relax and look back and feel proud of this school year.
