Meet Annie Simon

Annie Simon brings her ten years of teaching and coaching experience to her role as a Professional Learning Manager at Newsela. Working with teachers is her passion and her joy, having led PD promoting inquiry-based learning for teachers across her district and serving as Humanities Dept. Chair for grades 6-12 at her school. She has been recognized for her teaching by the NYC DoE and with the Yale University Educator Award. A history fiend, her content expertise can also be seen in her book “How to Survive Middle School US History” (2022). 

At Newsela, her work helps teachers bridge the demands of the classroom and their district with their knowledge of what their students need— emphasizing the creation of engaging learning experiences that affirm and encourage student voice.
