This study of 1,059 students in Grades 10–11 examines the relationship between Newsela quiz performance and outcomes on the PSAT and SAT Reading/Writing assessments. Key Findings: The Readiness Predictor

2x Likely Success

Students scoring 75 percent or higher on Newsela quizzes were about twice as likely to meet grade-level SAT/PSAT benchmarks.

Strong Correlation

Quiz scores were strongly correlated with SAT Reading and Writing achievement (r = 0.44), showing the impact of regular practice.

Universal Impact

The predictive relationship remained statistically significant across all student subgroups, including race, gender, and EL status.
