PhET Simulations

Over 100 PhET Simulations are coming soon to Newsela STEM. These simulations include:

• Research-based, interactive simulations that provide engaging, game-like environments where students can explore, manipulate variables, and visualize complex concepts (like atoms or electrons) to enhance conceptual understanding.
• Instructional resources developed in partnership with NSTA pair explicitly with Newsela’s collection of PhET Simulations. 

PhET is an organization out of the University of Colorado Boulder that has developed interactive, game-like experiences to help educators teach complex STEM concepts.

In addition to supporting multimodal learning, Newsela STEM’s PhET Simulations provide tailored resources developed in partnership with NSTA.

• Pair PhET Simulations with Newsela texts, Generation Genius videos, and TUVA data sets to help students develop deeper STEM connections.
• Teachers can build well-rounded, interactive learning experiences by assigning simulations directly in the Newsela platform.
• Build cross-disciplinary science connections with interactive, engaging activities that allow students to explore real-world science phenomena.

Newsela STEM’s Generation Genius video lessons and activities help reinforce learning through real-world phenomena.
